Collins Fire Fact Sheet

The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A continues to manage the Collins Fire. They are managing this fire in addition to the management of the Wild Rose Fire.  

The Collins fire size is now 380 acres and burning in Pinyon-Juniper Pine.  The fire is located in Piceance Basin, off CR 3, 17 miles southwest of Meeker, CO.  It is under the jurisdiction of the White River BLM Field Office in Rio Blanco County.  The fire is currently 48 percent contained.  Crews made good progress yesterday with line construction and mop up.  Aerial resources were also used for reconnaissance work and well as assisting crews with knocking down hot spots.

There are currently seven fire hand crews, as well as three helitack crews with two helicopters, five engines and other fire support staff assigned to the Collins Fire.  More favorable weather conditions today should allow for crews to make significant progress.
