Job Announcement - Director, State of Colorado's Division of Emergency Management

The Department of Local Affairs is recruiting for a dynamic leader to direct the Division of Emergency Management. This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), which is a performance-based pay plan reserved for senior-level management positions responsible for relatively large or important segments of a principal department. Employees in SES agree to and sign a contract which expires and is renegotiated annually.

The Director, DEM Position Announcement is open only to Colorado state residents and closes on April 18, 2011.  They primary physical work address is in Centennial, Colorado.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to,
  • This position manages and directs the Division of Emergency Management, which includes developing program policies, guidelines and objectives; managing an administrative budget of $2.9 million per year; and managing approximately $40 million in grants and assistance to local governments annually.
  • The position directly supervises 3 FTE and indirectly approximately 25 FTE.
  • The position oversees the State Emergency Operations Center and maintains the State Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Further, the position ensures a disaster emergency management system embodying every aspect of all-hazards disaster emergency preparedness, prevention, response and recovery.
