State EOC Ready to Respond as Weather Conditions Change Across the State

State EOC Actions
Operations staff will continue to monitor the progress of the storm today and into tonight and provide updates as needed.  All Command and General Staff and Emergency Support Functions (ESF) leads are monitoring operational updates for situational awareness and resource requests.  Currently the State EOC is at a Level V or Daily Operations status.  Command and General Staff and ESF leads are on standby if the SEOC is activated to a higher level.

Weather Update 

The snow should move in early afternoon starting from the north moving south.  Snow will begin to diminish Wednesday later afternoon into early evening hours.  The winds should stay below the threshold for blizzard conditions at this point.  Temperatures will be in single digits to teens for highs and single digits above or below zero for the lows.  The weather update is provided by the National Weather Service Colorado Forecast Offices.

I-25 Corridor - Metro Area to Boulder
Winter Storm Warning - Jefferson, Larimer and Boulder Counties
Winter Weather Advisory - Denver, Adams, Arapahoe and Broomfield Counties
6-15 inches of accumulation for Jefferson, Larimer and Boulder Counties
6-10 inches of accumulation for the Denver Metro Area.
Winds - North 10-15 MPH with gusts up to 20-25 MPH.
Visibility - 1/4 mile or less at times due to blowing snow.

Foothills - Higher Elevations
Currently under a Winter Storm Warning.
15-35 inches of accumulation for elevations above 10K feet.
10-30 inches of accumulation for elevations between 6K to 10K feet.
Winds - North 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 15-30 MPH.  
Visibility - 1/4 mile or less at times due to heavy bands of snow.

Northeast Region
Currently under a Hazardous Weather Outlook.
2-6 inches of accumulation for the region with higher amounts in the western part of the region.
Winds - North 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 20-25 MPH.
Visibility - 1/4 mile or less at times due to blowing snow.

Palmer Divide 
Currently under a Winter  Storm Warning
6-15 inches of accumulation
Winds - North 5-10 MPH with gusts up to 15 MPH.
Visibility - 1/4 mile or less at times due to heavy bands of snow.
