Information on Colorado fire restrictions or bans has been update as of July 2, 2014.   This website includes links to each county where the most current information on fire restrictions will be located.  It also contains links to the U.S. Forest Service and BLM Forest webpages for information on restrictions on federal lands.  Please remember that fireworks are not permitted on the federal forest lands. 

The map below can also help you determine if fire restrictions may be in place.  The gray counties have not reported fire restrictions to the Colorado DHSEM. Fire restrictions can change from day to day.  Please check directly with the jurisdiction you are visiting for the most current information.  This map is provided as a resource to those living and visiting Colorado.  The fire restrictions are determined by the local jurisdiction.

Eightmile Fire

June 23, 2014
Location:
Fremont County, 6 miles northeast of CaƱon City on Federal land.
Size:
528 acres
Containment:
65% of the perimeter that can be contained is 100% contained. The remaining 35% of the fire perimeter is in rocky, unsafe terrain; therefore, no boots were put on the ground. However, this area does contain natural barriers and has been lined with fire retardant.
Cause:
Lightning
Evacuations
All pre-evacuation notices have been lifted
Closures:
Phantom Canyon road (CR 67) is closed between mile markers 4.5 and 12.1.

·        Time/Date Started:  June 23, 2014 at 5:10 pm.

  • Location: 6 miles northeast of CaƱon City, Colorado
  • Cause: Lightning
  • Fuels: PiƱon, Juniper, Ponderosa Pine, Gambel Oak
  • Size: 524 acres
  • Containment: 65% of the perimeter that can be contained is 100% contained
  • Resources: 4 Type 1 Hand crews; 2 Type 2 Hand Crew; 4 Type 6 Engines; 1 Type 1 Helicopter; 2 Type 3 Helicopters; Air Attack; 2 SEATS; Total Personnel 262
The fire is transitioning back to local resources.
